Get behind the scenes access to two iconic South Australian locations – The R.M.Williams Workshop, and the Kidman Flower Company, in this Adelaide day tour. Learn about the history behind the famous RMs boots, see the care that goes into handcrafting each pair, and even take your own specially fitted boots home. Then venture away from the city and visit the stunning Adelaide Hills for an impressive lunch, and VIP tour of the Kidman Flower Company Farm.
Start your day by meeting your private guide for the day, Nic, at your CBD accommodation, or if you are a local, at the central meeting spot – The Intercontinental on North Terrace. Nic is a South Australian local and extremely passionate about the history and development of the state. Nic’s inspiring storytelling will narrate all the stops and experiences throughout the day.
Lovingly handcrafted, beautifully designed and quintessentially Australian, RMs boots are as iconic as they are practical, and getting a glimpse into the production of these boots is something very special. The R.M.Williams Workshop, normally inaccessible to the public, will be your first stop for the day. You will walk the floor of the workshop, and see exactly how each important step in the process culminates in an entirely unique, and extremely high-quality pair of boots.
You will hear the R.M.Williams stories, see the craftsmanship and dedication behind the making of the famous boots, and get a glimpse into the strong ties behind R.M.Williams and South Australian Heritage.
Stopping for an Australian inspired morning tea in the boardroom, you will have time to reflect and talk further about the R.M.Williams legacy, before then visiting the R.M.Williams Percy Street Store to witness the final step in the boot creation process – the sale. Here, not only can you see just how many varieties of handmade boots there are, but you will be personally fitted with your very own pair to take home with you*.
After a full morning learning about the heritage of RMs, you will venture away from the busy city and out to the picturesque Adelaide Hills to visit the Kidman Flower Company – a locally owned and run native flower farm. Met and hosted by the owners when you arrive, you will be given the full VIP treatment, where you will again get a behind the scenes look at areas and experiences not accessible to the public.
You will have the opportunity to walk amongst the native flowers and learn about not only the different varieties of flower, but how to construct a beautiful flower arrangement – which you can purchase and take home if you wish. Amongst the flowers and with breathtaking views across the farm and the Onkaparinga Valley, you will also enjoy a magnificent lunch with Des and Angie Kidman.
After a delicious lunch, a walk around the grounds, and flower arranging, you begin your relaxing decent through the scenic Adelaide Hills, and back to your accommodation or CBD in the late afternoon.
